nothing new to report

But I thought I'd do you all the favor of checking in anyway.  :)

Here is a question for our 49 followers, and the facebook masses:  what are some easy to transport toys we should take with us for when we meet Danny?  We've noticed from our adoptive friends many of the orphanages don't have much to play with, and we would like to have some fun stuff to do during our visits.

How about you ask US questions too.....what do you want to know about adoption, Down Syndrome, and what happens next?  Tell me, I promise to answer them all!

whew!

Well if you don't already know I think it's important to share a couple of life things going on right now!

1. Wes has been deployed to the East Coast to work some of the damage left behind by Hurricane Irene.  We don't know how long he will be gone, and he has no return ticket!  What we do know is this is an amazing opportunity for him and we are so thankful it came along.

2. We got our USCIS fingerprinting appointment notification!!!  And it's next week on Friday....which is awesome...except that Wes is on the East Coast.  Funny what God does in our lives, huh?!  Not a huge concern, I spoke with a very helpful man at the state department yesterday and he walked me through how to get Wes's appointment moved to where he is.  The request is already in the mail.

3. Since he's gone I decided to go ahead with a little 'home improvement' project we had planned for Danny's room.  Today I demolished the shelves and bars on the inside of his closet and then painted over the scars left behind.  Tomorrow I'm going to install this (sans lady clothes) so he will have lots of room for all his fun new stuff!

Hope the world is treating you well, and you enjoy this holiday weekend.

waiting....

I am not a patient person.  Most of you realize this is a pretty obvious statement!  This adoption business has  tested my patience more than any other experience of my life.

So to sum up where we are right now....we are WAITING.  At this moment we are waiting to get a receipt for our USCIS application, as well as an appointment to get (more) finger printing done.  After we do that we will be waiting to have an officer assigned to our case.  Once that is done we will be waiting to receive our approval.  All this waiting can add up to around 90 days.  This is where you can help!  Please include us in your prayers.  Wes and I are holding onto the hope that we can have Danny home by Christmas, but if the USCIS takes the full 90 days it just won't be possible.  Specifically we are praying that our application be expedited and we have the approval back by early September.  What I do sincerely request is that you not pray for me to have more patience!  Have you ever heard that praying for patience results in more trials?  :)

Thank you for joining us in praying for our approval to come back quickly!
